What Is Laminated Glass?
Laminated glass is a safety and security glass that is made by sandwiching a laminated sheet between two pieces of glass. The laminated sheet is usually polyvinyl butryl (PVB) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which has high transparency and rigidity . The PVC sheet in the middle of the glass helps in sticking the glass pieces to it when the glass is broken. The laminated glass is designed to prevent it from shattering into pieces and thus ensures safety
Laminated glass is normally used when there is a possibility of human impact or where the glass could fall if shattered and also for architectural applications. Laminated glass is also used to increase the sound insulation rating of a window, where it significantly improves sound attenuation compared to monolithic glass panes of the same thickness. For this purpose a special “acoustic PVB” compound is used for the interlayer.
- Top layer: Glass
- Interlayer: Transparent thermoplastic materials polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
- Bottom layer: Glass
Sarfex laminated glass is a safety glass made by fusing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) between two pieces of glass. This laminated sheet is same as (PVB) sheet with little difference in millimetre with same transparency and rigidity. This laminates is widely used in automotive and transport industries.
